Ballard High School library media specialist Laura Younkin collaborated with a social studies teacher to devise an alternative to a traditional multiple choice test to assess what students had learned in their study of the 1950s.  Students are researching essential questions and presenting their findings via a wiki.

Blue Lick Elementary recently opened a new school library, three times the size of the old one!  The expanded space allows for multiple classes to come to the library at the same time for different purposes.  The high ceilings and large windows contribute to a sense of space and openness. 

School library media specialist Sara Lennon hosts the Frost Book Club every Monday after school. The club is in its first year, and at the end of many meetings, the students keep the discussion going online with the
Book Club Blog.  According to Ms. Lennon, "The students are very savvy with it, and it has added another dimension to sharing their opinions on what they read."
